Ferrochrome

According to its name, Ferrochrome is a kind of ferroalloys which is integrated with Iron and Chromium. The most popular usage is for producing stainless steel that usually classified to three following groups:

Low carbon Ferro chrome (LCFeCr)

Medium carbon Ferro chrome (MCFeCr)

High carbon Ferro chrome (HCFeCr)

Alongside above items, both High and Low carbon are most useful. Ferro Chrome producing in electric arc furnace with Charcoal, Coal and Chromite with a lot amount of electricity power.

High Carbon Ferrochrome

Ferrochrome uses:

• The main uses of Ferro chrome are for making stainless steel. Also, its useful for increasing strengthen in steel products. Also, any product which needs to have corrosion resistance needs Ferrochrome as well.
• Other uses are for increase the hardness and homogenizes in producing alloy steels which make it resistant to overheat and corrosion.
• Also, it uses for producing melting tools.

Ferrochrome in appearance:

The shape of FeCr is look like the most of ferroalloys like Ferrosilicon but in color is shining silvery.

Iranian Ferrochrome

Odor:

It has no distinctive odor to being recognized from other ferroalloys. It’s something like dusty iron in my nose sense.

Pricing:

Cr: FeCr is pricing in the market based on its Chromium content. This means that the higher the amount of Cr rate, the higher the price.

It’s usually available at 60% 63% 65% in the Iranian Ferroalloys market, which 63% is the most popular.

C: As mentioned before, the main element which Ferrochrome has been classified is based on its the Carbon rate. So that the lower carbon leads the higher price means LCFeCr is most expensive than HCFeCr.

Si: The other element which is play a crucial rule in Ferro chrome price, is Si. So that more Silicon rate lower price. Just the contrary Ferrosilicon, the lower Si rate in Ferro chrome is favorite for customers.

P: Phosphorous is the next element which have to consider to be as low as possible. However, it known as a Residual element in the whole specification. In the Iranian Ferro-chrome it appears usually like 0.03% of whole elements.

S: Sulfur/Sulphur is the next residual element which shouldn’t be higher than 0.09% in FeCr. The average S rate in Iranian Ferrochrome is 0.04% max.

Ferrochrome chemical compounds:

As mentioned, ferro chrome is a mixture of iron and chromium. Ferro-chromium is produced by heating, and smelting iron ore and chromium (Chrome Ore) by carbon, mainly in arc furnaces. The chemical compound of Iranian FeCr is usually as following details categories:

• LCFeCr: Cr:65%min C:1%max Si:1 %max S:0.04% max P:0.02%max
• MCFeCr: Cr:65%min C:2%max Si:1.2%max S:0.04% max P:0.02%max
• HCFeCr: Cr:63%min C:6-8% Si:1.2%max S:0.04% max P:0.02%max
